R3 Turkey Trot 2011:
This is a great time to make the committment for the R3 Turkey Trot!! It is the biggest 5 and 10 Miler in town and take advantages of the discounts from early sign ups.
We have two charities this year! The Fort Campbell Fisher House -Whose mission is to provide our service members and their families a comfortable, nurturing and secure environment while they receive medical care at Blanchfield Army Community Hospital (BACH).
We have 8 beautifully decorated guest rooms, each with private bathroom. Four of our rooms have a queen bed and the other 4 are equipped with a pair of twin beds. Also included in each room is a phone, TV, VCR/DVD player, hairdryer, iron & ironing board, clothes basket, extra linens, games & movies. There is a twin airbed in the closet for a third occupant. We provide most toiletries - shampoo, toothbrushes and toothpaste, tissue, cotton swabs, etc.... The house is setup with wireless internet and laptops (as well as other items) are available for checkout. We try our best to provide you with all the amenities of home.
In addition, the Scott Schroeder Benefit Fund.
The Schroeder Family Scott Schroeder has served with the US Army since 1987 and has spent the last 17 of those years with 5th Special Forces here at Fort Campbell. While out on patrol Dec. 10, 2010, their vehicle rolled over an IED. Thankfully, three of the six sustained minimal injures and two others sustained injuries to a knee and both wrists. Scott sustained severe enough injuries requiring above the knee amputations for both legs and limb salvage to his right arm.
Since then, he and his family have settled at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, D.C. for his medical care and future rehabilitation. The last five months has seen significant progression. The family is preparing for a long stay as he learns to negotiate new prosthetic legs and continued rehab to strengthen his arm. Thoughts and prayers are always appreciated!
Should you want to consider financial donations. A benefit fund has been established at Greenbank. Please know that any monies that remain after his rehabilitation will be donated to one of the special operations wounded warrior funds.
