Running and Walking Programs
TEAM R3:
Team R3 is a multi-sport club with its core focus on running, created to concentrate on fitness
of all levels and desires. Whether it is running, walking, swimming, orienteering, philanthropic
events or competitive racing, the idea is to get like minded, fitness interested people together
in an exercise environment to increase participation in outdoor activities to improve the health
of people in the area.
Team R3 promotes community Health, inspires a fit way of life, enhances athletic lifestyles and
raises awareness for developing personal commitments to maintain a fit and healthy you. You will
enjoy anything from social runs and events to structured and organized races and training events.
Something special about TEAM R3 is... the club is affiliated with R3 Running Racing Relaxing, a
specialty running store in Clarksville, TN. In addition to the health benefits and friends that
will be acquired by joining Team R3, the R3 Store provides many discounts and specials exclusive
to Team R3 Members.

fill it out and bring it into R3 or mail in. The Half-Marathon and 10K groups are additional
due to the length of training times it consumes. However, there are many long open runs that
are available at no cost and many friends to be met to enjoy even more running or walking.
The Team R3 membership also includes 10% off every purchase for the duration of your membership

helpful calendars, quarterly meetings, group runs, TRI information, seminars and much more.
WALKING GROUP:
Meets every Wednesday at 5 pm at the at Riverwalk, by the playground. Will start again after the New Year!
TRAIL/ADVENTURE RACING GROUP:
More to come. Check weekly for meeting times and dates.
COUCH TO 5K:
This program is designed for the very beginners. If you have never run before or you are unsure
of your fitness level, this may be the program for you. The program begins by starting runners
out slowly and gradually increasing to complete a 5K race without walking. A 5K race is 3.1 miles.
You will focus on stretching, breathing, and just getting your fitness level up. Stop by R3 and sign
up for the group.
NEXT GROUP: TBD.
INTERMEDIATE GROUP [5K to 10K]:
Groups start in January and July. This group uses the same format as the half marathon group.
Cost: $75.
10K to 1/2 MARATHON:
Both groups start in January and July and are trained by Chuck Jones. The Half-Marathon group trains
for the Country Music Half Marathon in Nashville at the end of April, the Let Freedom Run Half
Marathon in Clarksville in October and the St. Jude Half Marathon in Memphis, TN in December.
During the training process, the group runs numerous races including the Purity Moosic Dairy Dash 5K / 10K.
This group is for runners that have been running for a little while. We generally request you be able to
run at least 3 miles consecutively without stopping. The pace you run is based on a time trial that will
be run after the first practice. The practices will generally consist of track workouts on Thursdays and
a long run on Saturday, with easy days the other 3 days of the week.
The group meets 2 times a week, Thursdays at 5:30 PM at the west side of the Austin Peay State University
Track in the parking lot and Saturdays, the group meets in 2 separate places…in the Spring, the group
generally meets at the Back 40 on Fort Campbell, KY, near the Horse stables at Gate 10 at 7:00 AM
(no ID required)… in the Summer and Fall they meet at Beachaven Winery at 6:30 AM. The results of this
years Half Marathon Group is evident in some fantastic performances this spring. Many of the members
that are running in this group are shining in the local racing scene. You will see them wearing their
Team R3 racing singlet.
The cost of the 5K / 10K / Half Marathon group is $100 for four months of training to prepare for
the Country Music Half Marathon and the Clarksville Half Marathon. Although the group technically ends a week after the Country
Music Half marathon the group continues to meet to keep everyone in shape for
the next training season. Each member receives a R3 Singlet, a goody bag and special discounts, in
addition to the excellent training to meet your individual goals.
It is great when you get started running or are just returning to running to have a group to meet with
and share with, this gives you accountability and motivation. Everything is easier in a group. If you

Chuck Jones is the half-marathon coach for R3 as well as the 10k group coach. Chuck is an
RRCA Certified Coach
and has a wealth of Division I collegiate and post-collegiate racing experience.
YOUTH GROUP:
Meets every Wednesday 5:15 pm at the Rossview Track.
Open meet on April 21st, 2010 at the Rossview Track
This group is a basic start for your young runner or can help a more advanced runner, 12 and under.
The main goal for this group is to keep healthy, get motivated and enjoy being active. Once the
team gets developed, we will open it up for advanced instruction for the older children. It will
be a lot of fun. Included is internal running meets and meets with other youth programs in Clarksville
and beyond, we are developing that schedule now.
The coach is Crystal Keck-Williams, who is a Level 2 USA Track and Field certified Coach.
A little about Crystal, Keck-Williams recently worked at Austin Peay as the Assistant Coach to the Track
and Field Program. Before Austin Peay, she worked hard for two seasons at Methodist University , a NCAA Division
III University in Fayetteville , N.C. She was hired as an assistant to both the Cross Country and Track and
Field programs in 2005, she was then named the first full-time Track and Field Head Coach in July 2006.
In her two seasons, she coached 12 indoor All-Conference athletes, 16 outdoor All-Conference athletes,
two Division III National qualifiers and one Division III All-American. She was an Assistant Coach for
Cross Country and Track and Field at Fort Campbell High School in 2005. While there she coached the
Falcons sprinters, distance runners and pole vaulters. While a member of the Army ROTC Athletic Team
(Coach and Captain), she was awarded the top physically fit female in the southeast at the Army ROTC
Athletic Competition twice. Originally from Brandon, Florida, Keck-Williams received her Bachelor’s
Degree from Alabama in 2003. She married Cpt. Wes Williams who is currently assigned to a military
unit at Fort Campbell , KY.
